Join us on the First Friday of every month from 6-10 p.m. for one of the nation’s largest, self-guided art walks. Tour more than 70 galleries, venues and art-related spaces to see a variety of artwork and to enjoy the spirit and culture of the city. Visitors are invited to hop-on/hop-off free shuttles that circulate on three routes through downtown Phoenix’s arts districts. The shuttles meet at a connector hub at Arizona Center, and you can also catch the shuttles at any of the stops along the routes including Phoenix Art Museum, CityScape, Oasis on Grand and Unexpected Gallery.

Departing during the cooler temperatures of late afternoon and traveling through sunset, twilight and starlight, the Verde Canyon Railroad’s popular Summer Starlight ride operates on select Saturday evenings May through September. The Starlight Ride serves up a wide ranging mix of light, color and shadow as the Canyon transforms into a moonlit dreamscape. The romance of the rails is enhanced as daylight gives way to twilight.  The late evening return to the depot reveals neighboring Jerome romantically twinkling on Cleopatra Hill.

Meet Me Downtown Phoenix is a weekly evening get-together designed to build healthy bodies, healthy businesses and a healthy Downtown. Every Monday join the community for a social walk/run through the heart of our city and, in the process, get fit, win prizes, shop local and make friends. Check in at Copper Blues from 5:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., then run/walk 3-5 miles or as far as you’d like. A route guide will be provided. Talk about a power couple. Married Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are widely regarded as two of the most significant artists of the 20th century. And now their artwork is enjoying a world tour, with just one North American stop: the Heard Museum. See “Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera” through August 20. It includes 33 artworks, plus more than 50 photographs — some taken by Kahlo’s own father. The show also includes clothing and jewelry that reflects Kahlo’s own iconic style, from the region where she lived.

The East Valley sports and recreation store hosts two weekly group bike rides for cyclists of all skill levels: one at sunrise and one at sunset. The Thursday night ride covers the Tribe Loop, a 10-mile circular of roadways, including some smaller hills for a dynamic experience. Bikers tend to do two to three loops apiece, depending on ability and stamina.
