Phoenix Art Museum presents A Tribute to James Galanos, a retrospective dedicated to the iconic American fashion designer. Featuring more than 40 couture-quality, ready-to-wear ensembles and accessories, including an ensemble worn and donated by former First Lady Nancy Reagan, the exhibition will illuminate the designer’s influence and legacy with objects from the 1950s through the 1990s.

Past/Future/Present: Contemporary Brazilian Art from the Museum of Modern Art, São Paulo presents a rare panorama of the most innovative art produced in Brazil from the 1990s to the 2010s. The exhibition will be the first major presentation of objects from the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, São Paulo (MAM) in the United States. Premiering on the First Friday of September, Past/Future/Present will feature 70 artworks created by 59 artists in diverse media, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and performance.

Scottsdale ArtWalk is much like a large, easy-going open house for the Scottsdale Arts District located primarily along Main Street and Marshall Way in Scottsdale Downtown. “America’s Original ArtWalk”, this weekly gathering takes place every Thursday evening (year-round, except Thanksgiving) when all member galleries belonging to the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) open their doors to the public and show off the work of the Southwest’s outstanding artists. The sixth annual Desert Discovery Day hosted by Desert Foothills Land Trust is a unique outdoor experience in the Sonoran Desert. The day will include a scavenger hunt of activity stations along a nature trail in the beautiful Jewel of the Creek Preserve. Children will receive a passport stamp at each station, and be given a goody bag for collecting the stamps. There will be live animals, crafts, educational information, and free refreshments.

Celebrate Día de los Muertos at the Garden at this two-day family-oriented festival that uses music, dance and storytelling to explore the beauty and meaning of this special holiday. Children will love the crafts and face painting and the whole family will enjoy the entertainment and browsing the Mercado filled with art, jewelry and other wares.
Each day ends with La Procesión. Based on an ancient tradition, guests and performers will march as a community through the Garden to honor the departed. La Procesión concludes with a traditional burning of penas (sorrows).

The award winning Litchfield Park Festival of Arts is now on its 46th year. The Festival of Arts rates as one of the oldest and most popular festivals in the Southwest. Skate Westgate, the West Valley’s only real outdoor ice skating rink, is back for its second year along with an expansive holiday lineup of free festivities including horse-drawn carriage rides, nightly snowfall, a tree lighting, photos with Santa and a Menorah lighting. Just like in New York City’s Central Park, there are few things as charming as seeing horse-drawn carriages stroll along the streets as hooves clip clop and bells jingle. Westgate is the only destination in the Valley where guests can enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides every Friday and Saturday. Adding even more magic to the holidays, snowfall happens twice nightly and Santa Claus is on-hand daily to listen to Christmas wishes. Guests are invited to help break the ice at Skate Westgate on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for the opening of the ice rink after a professional skating performance, Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the towering 36-foot holiday tree.
